Martian Conglomerate Infantry

An Introduction

The Martian Conglomerate Armed Forces infantry forms the basis of Mars' military. These soldiers consistently serve the various divisions within the conglomerate. They are often well armed, but are said to be undertrained.

Training

Martian soldiers do not go through the hands-on training process that the soldiers of earth do. Instead, "training" is a simple and very fast process where the soldiers are hooked to a machine, and all of the information and tactics they will need on the field are "uploaded" directly to their memory. They are then put into pods, where their bodies will be altered so that they are physically fit for a military role. They are then put through some Virtual Reality tests, shown their weapons, and various enemies on hologram, and given their objectives and tasks. This process is often criticized by earth soldiers, as they think that their training is rushed and therefore, unreliable. This brings up the stereotype that Martian troopers are unskilled and simply cannon fodder, and often are made fun of, as they are thought to cowardly run from the battlefield. However, this training is, in reality, reliable enough, even though it truly is less effective as hands-on training.

Uniform/gear

The suit type that was adopted by the MCAF for the infantry was developed by the Ares Association, a company within the Martian consortium. The suit provides protection from the harsh Martian landscape, as well as temporary protection from the vacuum of space (there are different, modified versions to protect from space that are used by the navy). It is also quite capable of taking hits from enemy fire. It is capable of taking around 3-4 hits from kinetic projectile-based weapons, but can only withstand 1-2 hits from enemy laser or plasma. Their helmet comes with a basic digital HUD, that shows base information, such as ammunition and what kind of danger the soldier is in. It can also measure heartbeat to let the soldier know if he must withdraw.
Along with that, the HUD also provides combat assistance, complete with a mostly basic targeting assistance computer. The helmet and suit are more than capable of taking a few bumps or scratches.

Weaponry

Many of the service weapons used by the Martian infantry are developed by Hammond company, a weapons manufacturer within the Consortium that develops infantry weapons, artillery weapons, and various vehicles. The 2 main weapons used by them are the Hammond Service Laser Rifle, an accurate, yet somewhat unreliable DEW. It is very capable of hitting targets easily from a long distance. Many of the Conglomerate soldiers prefer the alternative: the Hammond Direct Plasma Rifle. This weapon is very powerful, delivering a deadly burst of plasma. It is much more reliable than the HSLR, but does not have the ranged capabilities of its counterpart. Despite extensive use of energy based weapons, the MCAF infantry still utilize kinetic projectile based weapons. One of the most common, is the Darrenson Rivet Gun/Battle Rifle. Darrenson Co. has a long history with the Conglomerate. It was a tool company before the Martian War of Independance began. The company secretly started working with the rebels, using the available materials to create simple weapons for the rebels to use. This was supposed to only last until the war ended, but the company ended up perfecting their weapon design, and the company ended up being a permanent supplier to the Martians, earning a seat on the Conglomerate council. The rifle is kinetic, but still has a good balance stat-wise. It delivers a pretty powerful shot, while still having a dependable rate of fire. It's accuracy and stability are also very reliable as well. The weapon is simple and easy to maintain, and it's unlikely that it will be going anywhere anytime soon. The conglomerate are also known to extensively use the SUMAR Tyrant assault rifle, due to its extremely versitile nature, along with its powerful shot damage.
